SLS might remove dirt and oil from the skin and cleanse our body, but it is actually stripping away natural oils from our skin making it dry and itchy.
2. Paraben: It is a preservative used to prevent soaps or skin care products from forming any kind of bacteria, mold, or fungi in them and to increase the shelf life of the product.However, it might increase the product's shelf life, but it is not reallty safe for our skin and health. Parabens have the ability to mimic estrogen in the body, potentially causing hormonal imbalance. Though the evidence is inconclusive, research on their connection to breast cancer is still ongoing.
3. Phthalates: Phthalates are used in soap to make soap fragrances last long, and they are also used for better lather (soap foam) in soaps. Any skin care product that contains phthalates, such as soaps, can irritate and redden the skin. Extended usage of phthalate-containing goods might result in rashes and allergic responses.
4. Formaldehydes: To stop bacteria from growing, formaldehydes are most frequently employed as preservatives in soaps and detergents.It has the potential to damage the skin’s natural pH balance; it can strip away the skin's natural oil, which can cause skin irritation and dryness. Also, in extreme conditions, it can cause blisters and hives.
5. Triclosan: Triclosan in soaps and skin care products is used to extend the product's life span. Initially, it was used to prevent bacterial growth and bad odor from the product. It is suspected that it can cause hormonal disbalance too, as it can enter our bloodstreams through our skin. Talking about external damage can cause skin irritation, dryness, and itchiness.
